Westminster Colorado is located in Adams County, Colorado and Jefferson County, CO. The first permenant settler was Pleasant DeSpain in 1870. The area became known as DeSpain Junction. A real estate developer from Conneticut asked DeSpain is the area could be named after him and the area became known as Harris or Harris Park. Around 1890, Denver Presbytery was convinced to build a Presbyterian University in the area and it was named the Westminster University of Colorado. In 1911, the city of Harris decided to incorporate as the city of Westminster in honor of the University.

Today, Westminster Colorado boast over 100,000 residents and is one of the fatest growing cities in Colorado. Westminster has new shopping opening regularly including a host of shops and restaurants at the Westminster Promenade. New home construction is expanding the city in multiple locations. Westminster has easy access to major highways, including I-25 and Hwy 36. New light rail plans are being put into place to have multiple stops in Westminster along with the new toll road belt way loop.

The Westminster Colorado city owned park system has over 2500 acres of open space through the city. The Butterfly Pavilion, College Hill Library and North Metro Arts Alliance helps keep citizens involved.
